King Congo

EN: The Congo dance is considered the oldest musical drum genre and dance of the Isthmus of Panama, concentrated mainly in the Province of Colon.
Within the colonense culture, the King Congo symbolizes the warlord, and is in charge of the economy and strategy of his people. He shares the Congo dance with his Queen, with whom he has two children: El Pajarito and Juan de Diosito. His clothing consists in wearing a crown, a colored band and even a cane; the most curious and symbolic thing is that his crown is significantly smaller than the Queen's.

Dentro de la cultura colonense, el Rey Congo simboliza al señor de la guerra, y es el encargado de la economía y de la estrategia. Comparte el baile Congo junto a su Reina, con la cual tiene dos hijos: el Pajarito y Juan de Diosito. La costumbre es que lleve una corona, faja de color y hasta un bastón; lo más curioso y simbólico es que su corona es significativamente más pequeña que la de la Reina.
